Stéphanie Busson
Born in 1973, Nice (France)
Lives and works in London (UK)
SB collects snapshots of her surroundings. Her work draws on the mundane, the banal and the ordinary. Her photographs are incidental, a direct response to places and situations. They are kept ‘as seen’, the only rule being often and everywhere. By recording the insignificant, SB incites us to look at things more closely, to pause and contemplate, to re-evaluate what is around us. The works evoke missed moments, forgotten places, fortuitous encounters.
In her series, SB displaces the photographs from their original context to propose a loose narrative which gives a possible yet not unique point of entry to her work, leaving space for fictitious stories to emerge and multiple interpretations.
SB also uses drawings, paintings, collages, installations to collect, manipulate and bring together fragments of what’s randomly passing her way.
